It is with great pleasure that ASHRAE RAL announces the formation of the South Africa Chapter as the Region’s 22ndChapter, in Sub Region 1. This is the 187th Chapter of ASHRAE.
On the 2nd of August, 2017, ASHRAE Members Council Approved the Petition for the South Africa Chapter, with 50 signatories. Though many an effort had been made in the past, the formation of this Chapter can be credited most largely to the incredible work of Mr. Stephen Gill, who successfully mobilized the 50 keen South African ASHRAE members to petition for this Chapter. A steering group has subsequently been formed to decide on the appointment of Officers with the intent to have them take office as early as possible.
Region At Large would like to welcome the South African Chapter, based in Johannesburg, and is excited to have them be part of this vibrant and diverse Region whilst looking forward to them being an invaluable addition to the ASHRAE RAL Community.
RAL remains the largest Region of ASHRAE.
