SUMMARY:HVAC Design: Level II – Applications (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:Achieving energy-efficient building performance that provides cooling comfort for occupants and meets the needs of building owners begins with system design. If the design is flawed\, performance will suffer\, and owner objectives will not be satisfied. \nASHRAE offers a solution to improve design practices. Whether a designer\, or facility manager\, a recent graduate or an experienced professional who has taken on new design responsibilities\, it is critical to combine the basic understanding of current standards with the application of new technologies to achieve success. Without a basic understanding of how systems perform in real-world environments and knowledge of which design option are available\, engineers are ill equipped to meet with the ever-increasing challenges of their positions. \n  \nhttps://www.ashrae.org/professional-development/all-instructor-led-training/hvac-design-and-operations-training/hvac-design-training-may-june-2021

SUMMARY:Designing & Operating Data Centers for the Internet of Everything: Mitigating Risk & Optimizing Performance
DESCRIPTION:IT hardware is rapidly evolving in response to customer need and demands. This makes IT loads in data centers difficult to predict. To achieve maximum performance while reducing energy consumption\, data centers must be designed and operated by professionals whose knowledge evolves as quickly. The maximum load is a hardware-driven metric; the average load or maximum operating load is a software-driven metric. And software workload is a moving target (ranging from idle to maximum operating load). Today’s data center environments have an infinite number of combinations\, increasing the risk of overgeneralizing by designers and operators. Demand for IT services that are lower cost\, more energy-efficient\, provide more storage\, and offer more computing capabilities is resulting in continued\, significant changes in hardware and as a result its operating conditions. This ASHRAE course examines data center best practices by focusing on ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidance. \nThis ASHRAE course examines data center best practices by focusing on ASHRAE’s evolving thermal guidelines for data processing environments\, telecommunications\, and actual high-density data centers in operation today. While there are opportunities to save energy in data centers\, understanding of equipment trends\, performance measurements\, and effectiveness are critical to the principal objective: Data integrity. \n  \nhttps://www.ashrae.org/professional-development/all-instructor-led-training/global-training-center/designing-operating-data-centers-for-the-internet-of-everything-mitigating-risk-optimizing-performance-may-26-27-2021

SUMMARY:High Performance Healthcare Facilities Design: Complying with ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2017 (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This training covers general and specific requirements of HVAC design of all hospital rooms including airborne infectious isolation rooms\, protective isolation rooms\, operating rooms\, emergency departments\, Intensive Care units\, pharmacies\, psychiatric and sterile processing departments\, and infection control risk assessment are all covered\, making this course essential training for anyone designing healthcare facilities. \nThis course addresses the role of HVAC systems in reducing Hospital Associated Infections (HAI)\, explaining airborne vs contact transmission. Through filtration\, air patterns\, air changes\, dilution\, temperature\, humidity\, UV\, and pressurization the hospital HVAC can either help or hinder efforts to reduce HAI. \nBest practices of HVAC design and the complexities of designing renovations in operating hospitals for concerns such as phasing\, utility shutdowns\, and infection control risk mitigation are introduced. As well as the why and how of each of the different processes from the perspective of particle physics\, including hospital psychrometrics\, air changes requirement\, level filtration and more. \nLatest available technology in the design\, calculation\, and practical applications of HVAC and controls are introduced. The training also defines the ventilation system design requirements as per Standard ANSI/ ASHRAE/ ASHE 170-2017 including the compliance requirements. Systems and equipment include outdoor ventilation\, air distribution systems and energy recovery and all ancillary components of ducting\, insulation will be described. \n  \nhttps://www.ashrae.org/professional-development/all-instructor-led-training/global-training-center/high-performance-healthcare-facilities-design-complying-with-ansi-ashrae-ashe-standard-170-2017-mena-may-24-25

SUMMARY:The Future of Refrigerants: Challenges and Opportunities (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This training provides a background review of international treaties and initiatives that support the transition from hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants towards non-ozone-depleting (ODP)\, low-global-warming-potential (GWP) substances. A review of proposed refrigerants and how they can be used in different HVAC&R applications based on theoretical and empirical analyses is discussed. Challenges and opportunities associated with the different types of refrigerants: hydrofluoroolefins and natural refrigerants are presented. Relevant refrigerant options for high ambient temperature (HAT) environments\, and standards\, codes of systems and substances are also covered. Finally\, the course wraps up with a discussion on the systems perspective and how to best understand the opportunities for energy-efficiency improvements. This would include an introduction to free modeling tools such as the online ORNL Heat Pump Design Model. \n  \nRegistration Fees\n\n\n\nFees\nMember\nNon-Member\n\n\nEarly Bird (Early Bird Pricing – Deadline 2 February 2020)\n$249\n$324\n\n\nStandard\n$311\n$405\n\n\n\n  \nTo register: \nhttps://www.ashrae.org/professional-development/all-instructor-led-training/global-training-center/future-of-refrigerants-challenges-and-opportunities-mena

SUMMARY:Designing for IAQ: Complying with the Requirements of Standard 62.1 (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This seminar focuses on the basic requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2016\, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. The newest version of the standard includes a major change to the scope of the standard by which residential occupancies are moved from ASHRAE Standard 62.1 to 62.2. This course provides an overview of the requirements of the new standard with emphasis on changes from the previous version and practical application of the standard to modern VAV systems. New requirements to the indoor air quality procedure for determining minimum ventilation rates are discussed. In the 2016 version\, changes were made in determining air class for laboratory exhaust systems and the use of sensors for demand control ventilation\, and these changes are discussed as well. The course presents sample calculations for code review and for physical operation. This course has been customized for the Middle East by instructors well versed in the concerns for professionals in the region.
