Biography

Dr Tharindu Samarasinghe is the Managing Director of Headrogen (Pvt) Ltd, a consultancy specialising in Building Services Engineering, Energy, Digital Twins and BIM, with operations in Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the Middle East. He has over 12 years of experience in HVAC design, energy efficiency, digital twins and BIM. He previously served as Energy Efficiency Specialist for the USAID Sri Lanka Energy Program, where his work contributed to national initiatives including energy benchmarking, the Energy Efficiency Building Code (EEBC) & Demand Response.

He is actively involved in academia as a visiting lecturer at Sri Lankan universities and professional institutions and also serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka. Dr Tharindu completed his PhD at the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, University of Melbourne, focusing on design for offsite manufacture and assembly of MEP systems. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of London. He is a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council (UK), a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) and ASHRAE, a LEED Green Associate, and an Accredited Professional of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka. He currently serves as Student Activities and Sustainability Chair, and Co-chair for Research Promotion and Government Affairs, for the ASHRAE Sri Lanka Chapter.
