ASHRAE Mumbai Chapter GAC chair Mahesh Prabhu seen along with Hon MLA of Curtorim constituency , Shri Alexio R Lourenco and Dr Joe De Souza : eminent Scientist & ex HOD of Microbiology , Goa university and Technical consultant of the Goa State Pollution Control Board . The meeting was held at Hon MLA Lourenco’s office at the Porvorim , Goa Assembly Building , in the intervening afternoon break of the Monsoon Assembly Session currently in progress.
ASHRAE GAC globally focuses on Public Policy Priorities which encompasses Public Health in General and Legionnaires Disease in particular. This meeting with the Legislator was an initiative by AMC GAC to build relationships with State legislators by conducting a face to face meeting to promote discussions about sustainable practices of ASHRAE members and the relevant technical expertise available .
Hon MLA Lourenco and his Administrative Team were appraised about ASHRAE and its local expertise , Technical resources , Standards and Guidelines .
After the interaction , the Legislator and his team took cognizance of the Increasing number of Legionnaires cases being reported by Tourists visiting Goa in the last few years and requested the ASHRAE Mumbai Chapter GAC team to present a brief report on this Public Health issue plaguing Goa.
The Legislator offered to consider tabling this report in the ongoing Monsoon Assembly session under the auspices of Health care Policy discussion slated for Wednesday 31st July 2019 with an offer of an invite for the AMC GAC Chair to attend the Assembly Session and sit in on the discussions.
